Commissioner Sibi Division visited OTP Center at District Head Quarter (DHQ) Hospital Kohlu.
Dr. Saeed Ahmed Jamali Commissioner Sibi division visited OTP Centre at DHQ hospital Kohlu he was welcomed by the Distrct Nutrition officer Mr. Sami Zarkoon and Mir. Asif Baloch OTP in-charge.
While briefing the Deputy Commissioner Kohlu Mr. Agha Nabeel told that nutrition services are being provided to local community through 28 OTPs in the district run by Poverty Alleviation Organization Balochsitan PAOBK NGO and PPHI respectively.
Dr. Afzal Zarkoon District Health Officer told that Balochistan nutrition program is being implemented by the NGO, PPHI and LHWs program in the district. Dr. Zarkoon further told that children from the age of six months to five years are being screened, Severely Acute Malnourished (SAM) children are being treated at OTPs and being provided Ready to Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) whereas, the normal and Moderately Malnourished (MAM) children are being provided Multi-Micronutrient Supplementation to prevent deficiency of micronutrient among children. He further told that counseling sessions are being conducted with mothers and fathers regarding Infant & Young Child Feeding (IYCF) Practices to promote healthy behaviors.
Mr. Ismail Sherani Nutrition Officer provincial nutrition cell spotted light on recently conducted trainings for health care providers of the district. Mr. Sherani told that comprehensive trainings package on nutrition services protocols have been conducted with Lady Health Workers, Doctors and paramedics of the staff. Purpose of these trainings was to equip the health care providers with sufficient knowledge and skills to treat the SAM children and to provide counseling services to parents.
Dr. Nazeer Ahmed Khwajakhial divisional director health, Dr. Khalid Mari district coordinator LHWs program and Mr. Abdul Qadir Nasir program development specialist were also present at the occasion.
