PROVINCIAL COORDINATION COMMITTEE MEETING.
Quarterly Provincial Coordination Committee (PCC) meeting was arranged at BNPMC office under the chairmainship of Director General Health Balochistan. The objectives of the meetings were:
- To provide strategic leadership for BNPMC and facilitate efficient implementation of the project and to enhaunce the collaboration and coordination with line departments, development partners regarding the support required in nutrition interventions.
- Review the status of project implementation at the provincial and district level and identify bottlenecks and resolve any conflicts among IPs.
- To ensure availibility of the required resources for nutrition services provision and project related activities.
Program Manager BNPMC Dr. Ali Nasir Bugti commenced the meeting with welcome remarks and introduction of participants. He further briefed the participants on the background and objectives of the committee and encouraged the participants of the committee to pay frequent monitoring visits of the districts to identify any issues of implementation for the corrective measures. He presented the Mid Term Report of the project to DG Health, the report findings were later on presented to all the participants in plenary session.
Later on, Dr. Abdul Latif Tareen, Nutrition Specialist, shared detailed presentation about the implementation status of the project at the district level.
The program has established 147 Out-patient Therapeutic Centres (OTP) where acutely malnourished children without complications are being treated. While those with complications are managed at stabilisation centres (SC) established at district hospitals of the seven districts. The relevant staff of the SC have been trained on the management of acutely malnourished children with complication.
While sharing the progress of the program Dr Latif Tareen informed that 1500 facility and community based health care providers have been trained on CMAM,IYCF, IFA and MMS. A program specific training manual based on national guidelines have been compiled and used in these trainings and have also been provided to the field workers. In addition, IEC material comprising posters, banners, brochures and concelling cards have also been developed and distributed to district field staff.
The Chair, Dr. Masood Nosherwani appreciated the efforts of the project team and thanked the Program Manager for conducting the meetings timely and assured his support to the project.
