World Bank Mission visit of Balochistan.
World Bank Mission led by Dr. Tayab Masood, Technical Team Leader WB for BNPMC visited Balochistan to conduct Midterm Review of the Balochistan Nutrition Program for Mothers & Children. Dr. Alia Kashif, Deputy TTL, Mr. David Preston First Secretary (Development Cooperation) and Ms Rabbiya Hamdani Senior Program Officer of Australian High Commission, Mr. Usman Financial Consultant WB were also the part of the mission. The mission visited Province for three days starting May 30th 2017.
The World Bank mission conducted detailed meetings with Additional Chief Secretary, Secretary Health, Secretary Finance, Secretary Planning & Development Department government of Balochistan to discuss the modalities of the project implementation. The Mission suggested to expedite the process of screening through campaign mode so that the actual case load of the SAM children is identified. The mission also suggested to focus on the social mobilization activities so that the target population takes maximum benefits from the intervention.
The mission also conducted review meetings with BNPMC staff, District Nutrition Officers, District Health Officers, PPHI and NGOs during their visit. They were briefed on the project implementation status by all partners and relevant district staff followed by discussions on challenges faced, gaps identified and strategies to resolve them. It was observed that the nature of problems varied from district to district. Therefore, no one remedy can be generalized for all. Based on this observation, the mission recommended the project team to conduct a detailed districts analysis in terms of finding out the best possible course of actions in each district for efficient and effective implementation of project interventions.
