Inadequate maternal and child nutrition is the underlying cause of an estimated 3.5 million deaths every year globally. The time from conception to 59 months of age provides a unique window of opportunity to improve the long term health physical and cognitive development of younger children.
Nutrition is vital for better health of all age groups. Inadequate nutrition intake and poor diet can result in malnutrition. Poverty, lack of health knowledge and access to nutritious food are one of the leading causes of malnutrition. It affects socio- economic development and addressing malnutrition requires collaborative efforts across sectors.
Despite of all challenges, Government of Balochistan Health department is committed to address malnutrition particularly among children and mothers in the province on long term basis.
